Mission and Philosophy of Holy Family School

Holy Family School recognizes that parents are the first educators of their children. The school strives to work with parents to create a caring, respectful, and supportive environment where students will have the opportunity to grow in their faith, character, and academics in ways that will help them achieve their goals in life. Our dedicated teachers are committed to the development of each student to his or her full potential spiritually and academically in a nurturing Catholic environment. Through an engaging and challenging curriculum, instructional strategies are geared to meet the needs of diverse learners.

Holy Family School was established in 1974 as an independent Catholic School. It was through the persistence of the founding families and some dedicated individuals who did not have children that the school was established to provide academic excellence and Catholic religious education to families within Thurston County and beyond. 

From humble beginnings in a small white house in downtown Lacey to its current campus, the school has undergone many changes. Starting with 26 students the school reached a high point in enrollment of 176 in 2006. In 1993 Holy Family School was officially recognized as a private, independent Catholic School approved by the Archbishop of Seattle, affiliated with Sacred Heart Parish. Holy Family remains accountable to the Archdiocese of Seattle for its academic and religious programs, continuing to operate under the governance of an independent Board of Directors that includes a Pastoral Presence member from Sacred Heart Parish. 

By 1999 Holy Family School evolved into a nine building campus with a library, technology lab, and comprehensive science lab. Holy Family School has students from a wide geographic area and socioeconomic settings. Students come from Lakewood, Yelm, Olympia, Lacey, and Joint Base Lewis McChord (JBLM) with wide racial diversity.
